How It Works Kathy Oviatt, Principal Kathy’s passion for design combined with her love of challenge and high client expectations are apparent by her creative accomplishments of over 20 years. Her projects include several retail stores on Historic Main Street in Park City, luxurious second homes and cabins, a state of the art houseboat, Sego Lily Day Spas in Layton and Midvale, executive and medical offices and numerous upscale residences.
After graduating from Weber State University her ongoing business and design education has led her to an increasing interest and expertise in historical projects and architectural detailing. Her most recent projects reflect that expertise and offer her clients a broad range of possibilities. She offers her clients an approachable easy way with people, award winning design, a broad knowledge of all aspects of interior design and her desire to fulfill her clients most specific needs. These attributes are a consistent driving force in the success of her projects.
Derek Mecham
After sixteen years in visual merchandizing, retail display and design, Derek Joined Oviatt-Pratt. With additional expertise and education in drafting, rendering, landscaping, and his skill with accessorizing, visual elements, interior and exterior design, he rounds out the team with unique talents that benefit both residential and commercial clients.
Although multitalented, Derek’s first love is historic design. His dedication and love of history and architecture, along with his knowledge and experience with many styles including Colonial, Victorian, European and Arts & Crafts qualify him for unique projects. He meets the challenge of creating period accuracy combined with modern functionality and also has the ability to quick-sketch and render with beautiful, accurate detail.
With each project, Derek has the ability to envision the entire concept while giving unmatched attention to every detail.
Lauren Stimpson Oviatt
Lauren comes to Oviatt-Pratt to with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Brigham Young University and several years in her field and also event planning. She will soon add to her educational achievements an interior design degree.
Lauren has always had a love for interior and landscape design, floral décor, and all things beautiful! Having lived in the South and also on the west coast, her design instinct is to combine traditional elements and furniture with updated style and modern color palettes. Her interests, combined with her technical skills such as drafting, space planning and presentation boards have led her to excel in projects reflecting European and other classic styles. Lauren is constantly looking for ways to infuse glamour and elegance into her projects while bringing to Oviatt-Pratt a fresh perspective and an eye for tasteful, classic design.
